Tracfone

One of our most robust partnerships that came in during the 2021 year was with Tracfone. I had the opportunity to lead the art direction and design across the entirety of this campaign, which included 9 illustrated article features, 6 podcast episodes, 3 custom videos, and 1 experiential event. It was a multifaceted campaign where I gained an invaluable learning experience—especially as we developed a first of it’s kind visual transcript to compliment each of our 6 podcast episodes.

The Podcast

We created a content hub and 6 visual transcripts that feature custom imagery and CSK. These visual transcripts were inspired by our Episode 1 guest talent, Mandy Harvey, who is a talented musician and member of the deaf community. We wanted to make sure Mandy, along with all members of the deaf community could experience these podcasts to the full extent in which they were produced. As art director and lead designer—I partnered with Uy Tieu (Product Designer) and Phil Moody (Engineer) to design, illustrate and build these visual transcripts, with the goal of creating a more well-rounded and inclusive experience for our audience as a whole. Podcast Accessibility

We partnered up with Accessibility Consultant, JamiLee Hoglind, who gracefully guided us in the direction of what an accessible podcast could look like. JamiLee and her team provided us with an invaluable perspective and helped ensure that we were designing with accessibility at top of mind.

The Docuseries

The Life On My Own Terms portion of this campaign follows three notable artists and public figures as they share their stories of resilience, transformation, and independence. Liz Lian (Producer) and I collaborated with Jessica L. Ransom and Leyla T. Rosario, the talented duo behind The Gig Media, to help produce and art direct each episode. Special thanks to Louis Hamwey (motion designer) for bringing these designs to life through motion.

Above are a collection of style frame selects that I designed, showcasing how we would eventually feature each talent’s personal archive of imagery. We played around with cutout photos, repetitive patterns, layered shapes/textures, and stylized text to compliment their personal journeys.

#mood

The mood board might be one of the most therapeutic stages of the creative process for me. Here’s a quick overview of the inspiration behind the visual world of Life On My Own Terms.

The Event

For our virtual panel event, we designed everything from evites, to email assets, live show graphics, and social content. We were asked to lean more fully into the Straight Talk branding for these specific materials, so we prioritized their brand colors and incorporated some shape/color elements from the videos to ensure both of these platforms still shared a common visual thread . Special thank you to Courtney Wells (motion designer) for stepping in to help design and animate the many quick-turn deliverables for this event!
